1905: Oveta Culp Hobby, 1st Secretary of the Dept of Health, Education, & Welfare, 2nd woman in the U.S. Cabinet, born.

1953: Lucy Ricardo gave birth to Little Ricky on TV’s “I Love Lucy.” To increase publicity of the episode, the original air date was chosen to coincide with Lucille Ball’s real-life delivery of Desi, Jr., via Caesarean section.
